Green high-performance computing and related technologies like alternative energy, power, storage, virtualization and cloud computing are impacting career and hiring decisions. With the planned Green High Performance Computing Center to be built in Holyoke, and the effort to attract and retain more IT industry in Massachusetts, educators will be asked to train more students for the IT workforce. Want to start incorporating some of these technologies in your classroom?

The Commonwealth Information Technology Initiative (CITI), Holyoke Community College, and the National Center for Information and Communications Technologies at Springfield Technical Community College are offering a Green High Performance Computing Educators’ Conference, Tuesday, May 25 at Holyoke Community College. The event is organized by community college educators, for community college educators (and others).

Who should attend?

Educators in computing, information & communications technology, and engineering fields at community colleges, universities, high schools, and informal education organizations who want to learn about new technologies to incorporate into their curricula.

Cost

Free, but advanced registration is required by May 21, 2010. Space is limited to 80 attendees, so register early.

Stipends

Stipends for participation are available for Massachusetts educators who are not employed on contracts on May 25. Participation stipends are $150 (inclusive of travel). Public school educators should abide by their district policies about whether or not to request a stipend.


Stipend recipients are required to complete and return a W-9 form in advance of the conference and sign an invoice at registration on May 25 in order to receive a stipend.

Check off stipend option on registration and follow instructions. Separate funding for travel expenses is not available.
